Even Victoria’s Secret models are going for the chop
One would think that a radical haircut normally comes at the beginning of a year. New year, new crop, that sort of thing. But not in supermodel realms. They like to mix things up a bit, and go against the grain (though perhaps their year-end marker is the Victoria’s Secret show in November). This year alone there's been Edie Campbell, Daria Werbowy, Isabel Lucas and Coco Rocha to name just a few highly successful models who's been snipped.
The latest supermodel to take to the scissors before the year ends is Toni Garrn, the blonde German beauty who’s reigned on the runway in an elegant ice blue négligée. And knowing the work that goes into such an epic production, it was perhaps after the show that Ms. Garrn decided to change things up. Taking to her Instagram this week, after some downtime in sunny St. Barts, Toni posted a selfie which shows her with a dramatic new bob in place of those former Rapunzel-like lengths.
Alongside the image, Toni wrote: ‘Left some hair in St Barth! First short haircut ever!’ – and yes, it’s really quite different. Gone is that bouncy, feminine hair that has won her numerous campaigns with the likes of Calvin Klein, Chloe and Dior. In its place, a more tomboy-ish bob that both androgynously chic and nonchalantly cool. In that typical model way, of course – with a face as beautiful as that you can pull off ANYTHING.
Another short video on Toni’s Instagram reveals the man behind the new chop, French hair stylist Damien Boissinot. All you need to know is that he’s an international hair man who styles only the very, very best. Edie Campbell for Vogue Paris, Natalia Vodianova for the cover of iD and more of that ilk.
Well, congratulations Damien on another really great model hairstyle. And perhaps a new lease of modelling life for Toni? Not that she needs it. Let’s see what 2014 brings.
