Why nude lipstick should get your attention too
Red lipstick might well be touted as one of the most iconic beauty looks around, but it might not be for everyone. Yes, it looks utterly fantastic on so many women – traffic stopping in some cases. Many have sung its praises, including our beauty director here at Never Underdressed. But for some, dramatic eyes with a pale lip is every bit as striking. So you can keep your berry shades this winter, thanks.
You only need to scan the make-up counters to realise that a decent nude lipstick is something rarer than a giant panda. These shades often go overlooked by beauty brands in favour of ‘statement reds’ – the main stars of the show – with the odd lighter shade thrown in as an afterthought.
What few people know is that a good nude lip is like a decent pair of brows in its ability to transform a face, subtly and without shouting about it. It shouldn't leave you looking like you've kissed a bag of flour, nor should it veer into 90s pinky-brown territory either. Happily, a few beauty brands have recently (to mix metaphors) struck gold in the nude stakes: Lipstick Queen's shimmering Nude from their new collection The Metals and Aerin's Sequin lipstick to name but two, each artfully highlighting the lips with a pretty, creamy sheen that's the pink of perfection.
There's a lot to be said for a good nude lipstick. But don't just take our word for it – click the gallery for inspiration from our favourite nude lip fans.
