Viktor & Rolf cast stones for couture

by

Dutch concept duo Viktor and Rolf made their return to the couture schedule after 13 years this evening, with a collection meant to evoke stones, grass and above all 'mindfulness'.

The collection began with the designers meditating, before arranging models into a formation. Each wore a black dress, coat or gown of technically enhanced silk, cut in contours and ruched so that the designers, as they guided the models into boulder formation, were able to cloak and hide them in swathes of fabric.

It was a fitting return for a pairing whose previous shows have included dressing model Maggie Rizer in dozens of layers, and evoking a vortex by painting models and their clothing entirely in black.

"We're enjoying the present," Rolf Snoeren said, as he joined guests for a cocktail after the show.
