Forget the photographers, the best bits from this year’s Met Ball were captured real-time by iPhone wielding guests including Moda Operandi’s Lauren Santo Domingo and Taylor Tomassi-Hill, and snap-hounds Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne and Pixie Geldof who Vined and Instagrammed the punk extravaganza, which featured a performance from bonafide punk Debbie Harry, as well as numerous nose-rings (fake, obv – some of those nostrils were probably very expensive) and beauty looks that certainly tore up the rule-book, in true punk style. 

Here are the best bits of the #metball hashtag that were bouncing around the internet last night… 

Pixie Geldof was Vinin’ up a storm with fellow London party queens Rita and Cara who got their punk on wearing Thakoon and Burberry respectively.

 

Alexa Chung, wearing Erdem, also made a guest appearance on Pixie’s Vine feed, doing her best internet cat impression with friend-of-the-felines Katy Perry in all her gilded Dolce & Gabbana glory. 

She also took time out with some of the ready-made punks Anna ordered in for the evening.

Over on Instagram, shoe-designer Tabitha Simmons got a double-take of the coolest gingers in fashion, Karen Elson and Grace Coddington (the former sporting the aforementioned temporary nose-wear - punk, yeah?) and Moda Operandi Insta’d its co-founder Lauren Santo Domingo sporting a (presumably) fake punk affectation in the form of an MO tatt. 

Rita Ora was posting as well as posing, uploading a picture of fashion friends Derek Blasberg and Karlie Kloss (in Louis Vuitton FYI) snarling instead of smiling, because you know, punk. 

And let us not forget twitter! Buzzfeed’s Amy Odell provided rolling red-carpet commentary on her feed, complete with twitpics of every dress to fawn or frown at (we’ll leave you to decide which) including this one of Anne Hathaway, wearing Valentino and Brigitte Nielson’s hair, that was expertly photobombed by none other than Jerry Seinfeld.
