Prada’s Journal eyewear collection launches with a short story competition
In case you weren’t aware, Miuccia Prada is an intellectual and so are the women who buy her clothes. So it makes perfect sense then for her to launch the label’s new Journal eyewear collection with a talent-scouting initiative that will earn the winner a cushty €5,000. That’s almost enough to afford a Prada handbag. (We jest. Sort of.)
Launched in collaboration with Feltrinelli Editore, a famous Milanese publishing house, the competition offers the winner a chance to be published online via the Prada website.
All you have to do is pen a short story for Prada and upload it there before 18th June. Entertainingly, the T&Cs mean entrants will have to steer clear of being sexually explicit or condoning drugs and alcohol – which would seem to rule out a large number of writers and would-be novelists. Perhaps that’s the point.
Entries must be between 4,000 and 8,000 words, and can be submitted in any language the writer chooses – those judges will need a pair from the label’s new range of prescription frames after squinting at all that. Good luck!
