Bye beards, it’s the moustache’s moment

by

There’s something incredibly hot about a man with facial hair whether it be neat-trimmed, Ryan Gosling style, or a full on Warren Ellis wizard-beard. Remember how wild we all went when George Clooney and Ben Affleck turned up to the BAFTAs earlier this year looking handsomely hirsute? When the former slunk out of London restaurant Lulu over the weekend wearing a neat moustache, and perhaps surprisingly, considering this style of facial hair’s complicated reputation, looking as lovely as ever, it begged the question, could the moustache be about to have a moment in the hot-light?

Leave horrible associations with Ron Jeremy, steam-punk hipsters and twee finger-tattoos et al at the door and there’s a strong case for a guy with an unshaved philtrum. If not too groomed (wax-twisters, and combers, stay away), it has the un-kept desirability of a beard, but with added grown-up sophistication – like a good Tom Ford fragrance that smells alluringly musky and masculine, but is expensive enough to suggest you’re the kind of good-at-life guy that doesn’t call his mother to find out how the washing machine works. Plus, you won’t be left with a suspiciously red chin should you get particularly close to a tache-wearer.

Need more convincing? This gallery of moustachioed hunks should do the trick…
