Ophelia Lovibond loves surprises and 60s style
Our twelve days of Christmas quick-fire q&as bring you seasonal cheer from someone fabulous every morning until the day itself
Ophelia Lovibond made her name as a promising British actress in Nowhere Boy and 4.3.2.1, and 2014 will see her fully prove her credentials alongside Olivia Coleman in TV 60s throwback Mr Sloane.
What do you wear on Christmas day?
I dress up. We all get dressed upstairs before we come down, and we all wear nice things. Last year I wore this beautiful Vanessa Bruno wool skirt, and a Sonia Rykiel jumper with lots of gold on. I even put a big red ribbon on my dog. I was half tempted to suggest we spent our whole day in PJs but my mum wouldn't allow it.
What are your Christmas traditions?
We always go to midnight mass, even though we're not really religious. That is hilarious because everyone is so drunk. Until recently, so was the priest, he'd obviously been on the church wine! There's just a really nice atmosphere.
What are you excited for in 2014?
Surprises. I'm starting work on a few things. There's a film with Simon Pegg that I'll be doing and Mr Sloane coming out, I'm excited about that. Doing this job, you never really know where you're going to be, or what country you're going to end up in. Some people hate the idea of not knowing what they're doing but I love not knowing where I'll be!
