What the Frock: Naomie Harris

Now this is really quietly clever. First, you notice the lovely colours; those pretty florals like something from an old storybook illustration. Then, the lace at the edges, still olde worlde but so whiter-than-white that it's obviously new and hasn't been sitting in a musty second-hand shop for 20 years. Then, you realise what the lace is actually doing is creating an hourglass shape. It's like an invisible belt, pulling the eye in by covering up more of the pattern at the waist. Naomie looks lush.

I love a bit of a floral – it reminds me of all things British, like Pimm’s and Eton Mess and Hampstead Heath on an August afternoon. This Dolce number is spot on and gets the mix of florals and lace just right, which isn’t always easy. Might just be a coincidence, but I like that her red manicure matches the juicy strawberries on the dress too.

I love this look. I wish everyone would dress like this at these things. But alas, not everyone can pull it off – Naomie has the perfect skin tone for this not particularly forgiving colour and the perfect figure to wear this slim hourglass shape. But better than that, she's also allowed for the fact that the dress is heaving with all sorts of lacy, floral, frippery and gone for really minimal accessories, and picked shoes in an off-white so it's not all too uptight and matchy-matchy. It's classy and will make you blink a few times too, which is always good.
