What the Frock: Will Smith
Our panelists on the latest and greatest celebrity looks
Will Smith wears a shiny blue suit at the Late Show with David Letterman studios in New York
Angelica Hermon, beauty writer at Never Underdressed
Not the first thing I would have put Will Smith in, but he actually pulls the shiny, lurid blue suit off pretty well. Well, better than many of his stature would, that’s for sure. While it’s more something you might expect to find in Jools Holland’s wardrobe, it actually works wonders on the actor and his crimson choice of jumper... it humbles the overall look a little. While Will’s body language screams out ‘I feel like a total prat in this smurf suit’, I actually really like it.
Peter Jensen, designer
What is up with the fine-knitted red polo shirt? That suit would have looked better with a beautiful crisp white shirt, the jacket buttoned up, and a pair of Church's Chetwynd shoes in black calf leather. And perhaps if he got rid of that '90s George Michael beard – this is a bit dated. Overall I'm not keen, although I think the trousers have a good shape.
Dolly Alderton, TV producer and writer
The coconut eclair is the least celebrated and far too often much maligned member of the Quality Street family, so it is very good of Will Smith to use his celebrity status to give it some promotional leverage. The only objection I have to the look other than confused-dad-trying-to-pick-out-his-child-on-the-sidelines-of-sports-day stance is the brick-red polo shirt. I think the suit would have been set off better with a crisp white shirt.
