There's a profusion unnecessary detritus in the world of make-up these days. No stone has been left unturned: there is a whimsical solution to every possible whim. Such was how I viewed eye shadow primers. Really? A primer JUST for the eyes? Doesn't everyone know that skimming a little foundation over your eyelids works in exactly the same way? 

Well, I've since found that actually, that's not strictly true. Clinique's interpretation of an eye primer is different. It's mousse-like texture, glides over eyelids to create the impossibly smooth - not cakey - surface, which looks pretty amazing on it's own (like a natural sepia nude, very 90s Calvin Klein) but also allows eye shadows to pack onto the lid and stay there. All day. Without creasing. 

All of which makes it fight for it's place in your make-up bag, and earn it moreso than any eye shadow alone.
