Your favourite handbags go giant at Harrods
Harrods unveiled a series of specially designed windows on Brompton Road this morning, celebrating their Handbag Narratives exhibition, which will show bags created exclusively for the department stores by 20 of the biggest fashion houses in the world.
Designers and leather accessories brands, including Fendi, Loewe, Sophie Hulme and Miu Miu, are participating in the drive, creating window displays based around their one-off, specially created handbags.
Fendi, for example, used their 2Jour bag, one of the brand’s bestsellers in Harrods, as a starting point, making a version made of crocodile skin in the department store’s signature green and gold, below.
Stella McCartney, meanwhile, created a giant version of her Falabella bag for her window, and a regular-sixed version of the exclusive design will be available to buy in Harrods throughout the summer.
The Handbag Narratives windows have been designed to mark a year of expansion at Harrods accessories hall, which is now a 40,000-square-foot space, one of the largest luxury accessories halls anywhere in the world. Events will continue until 24 August with handbag designers appearing on the shop floor and special customisation on offer. See the Harrods site for more details.
