What to wear in the office during a heatwave

We are obviously delighted about the weather, and we are embracing the late-20s temperatures with unabashed glee here in the Never Underdressed office, donning sleeveless tops, super-light T-shirts and sheer shirts and sundresses. It's an idyllic display of high-summer fashion, until, that is, someone whacks on the air-con. Chilly, almost arctic gusts blow through the office causing unsightly goosebumps and involuntary shivers but you can't get up and turn it off again until at least half an hour has passed. It would just be deemed too rude otherwise. Thus begins the passive-aggressive stand-off between the office gangs, the ones who sit directly underneath the air-conditioning unit as it emits its icy air and the ones who sit sweltering, ten feet west of it.

A jacket or other cover-up is the only solution. You can pop it on and off as the office climate veers from frosty to tropical and if you choose wisely (no wintry cardigans as afterthoughts, please) you can look stylish while doing so. And if you suddenly realise that a sheer halterneck isn't completely appropriate office attire, you can pop your summer blazer on, to grant you a more professional air.  It's a win-win compromise.
