The 10 most note-worthy beauty innovations of 2014
There's good reason to be excited about 2014. Not only did it start with a New Moon, which sets the year off to a cosmically awesome start, but it looks set to be a big year for beauty too. Building on the pretty solid foundations of the last few years which have brought us numerous first-to-market innovations that make our lives a whole lot easier, beauty brands are bringing it in a whole new way for 2014. Remember how the BB Pen from expert tanner James Read featuring DHA for a beautiful, gradual tan with a hint of foundation changed everything we thought we knew about self-tan? Or how the first-of-its-kind Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover made taking off varnish a quick, mess-free affair, and how the Always Sharp Eye Liner from Smashbox (featuring a patented cap to re-mould the point of the pencil) finally delivered precision lining every time? We take them for granted now, but back when they launched they were total game-changers.
Make-up keeps getting better, but it's not just the powder and paint that's being refined and perfected. The last two years have seen gadgets go from hit-and-miss to high-performance. The Clarisonic became every beauty lovers skincare companion, surfer-girl hair became attainable and less 'crimped' thanks to styling tools such as Babyliss Wave Envy and laser hair removal went from salon-to-sofa with the introduction of devices for home-use by Tria and Philips.
