If you are between the age of 25 and 35, chances are, you probably wanted to copy the hairstyle of Rachel from Friends at some point or other. Her mid-length, choppy, painfully 90s shag became a cultural totem of the time, an indelible stain on the mind's eye. And yet, 'The Rachel', as it was dubbed (and which was administered by Jennifer Aniston's hair stylist, Chris McMillan under the mind-bending influence of marijuana) has failed to stand the test of time.

May I bring your attention to Phoebe Buffay, the relatively undervalued character which was built for laughs and kooks, played exceptionally well by Lisa Kudrow. Phoebe brought a massive amount hair game, but has never really been recognised for it. While Monica and Rachel floated around with shiny hair commercial styles, Phoebe quietly danced her way through a ripe repertoire of braids, Games of Thrones-ish twists and a dressing up box full of hair accessories. She did it all. 

So, here's to you Phoebe Buffay, disciple of the butterfly clip, with the benefit of hindsight, we can confidently say you did it better.
