Guerlain launches kids scent that you'll want for yourself
Now this mind sound like a weird concept, one that, dare I say strays into the murky territory of dressing and regarding kids as miniature adults, but stick with me. This week the house of Guerlain launched its Petit Guerlain fragrances for children. One in a pink bottle and one in blue - you do the maths. If you're currently raising an eyebrow, hear this. On the continent, parents scent their kids with tiny dabs of eau de cologne from an early age and it's not weird or sexualised in any way, it's just, well, tradition.
Typically these child-friendly scents are lighter and softer than anything you might be spritzing about your person come 6pm, pre-pub, but it's exactly this lightness of touch that might appeal to the scent minimalists among us, those who prefer a subtle, almost undetectable fragrance as opposed to a whack-you-about-the-chops symphony of top notes every time you enter a room. If the trend for minimal, scrubbed skin on the catwalks (enter Chloe and Isabel Marant) is at an all-time high, is it so bonkers to suggest that scents might be ripe for a makeunder too?
The EDT itself (it's the same fragrance fyi, just in two different colour bottles) is floral-based and ultra delicate with hints of orange blossom, mimosa and honey, as well as pistachio and white musk. At £215 for 250ml, it's definitely is the kind of gift we can imagine North West receiving in a gilt-edged box for her first birthday, but don't discount these purely on the grounds of bad taste because actually, they're really rather lovely.
