There’s something very satisfying about finishing a tube of face cream up until the very last milimetre. Or plunging your finger right into the bottom of that Sisley pot, scraping out the last little bit to smother across your face. Perhaps it’s the beauty equivalent of licking your plate clean, eating every last morsel you can lay eyes on. Either way, it feels very fulfilling.

Using a bottle or tube up until you truly can’t get anymore out of it is a pretty solid sign of loyalty and trust. Because, let’s face it – we can be fickle towards our lotions and potions, simply because the joy of a new purchase means we buy more than we use, an unconscious accumulation of half used creams clogging up the bathroom shelves (and drawers. And wash bags. And kitchen cupboards). Depressing, but it happens. A great deal. All of which means, the stuff we really do use to the bitter end, is the stuff of our skincare life – the formulas that we see making a real difference to our skin and those that just make you feel a bit well, loved.
