The beauty evolution of Carine Roitfeld

The beauty evolution of Carine Roitfeld

by

Carine Roitfeld. An indomitable figure from the highest echelons of fashion. A mother, one time model, ex-editor of French Vogue and now, the beauty muse for Charlotte Tilbury at Tom Ford's autumn/winter 2014 catwalk, too.

On instagram yesterday, the make-up artist cited Carine, plain and simple, as her inspiration for the smudgy, 'slept-in' kohl and 'lived-in' skin on models Georgia May Jagger and Liberty Moss.

And maybe that's what makes Carine so alluring. That fact that we know what to expect from her beauty formula.  Over the years she's done very little in the way of grand transformations or dramatic makeovers. She looks now, very similar to the way she did in her early twenties, just with a slightly more worn-in aesthetic that, for her 59 years, is pretty damn impressive. Maybe it's a French cliche, but Carine knows what suits her (centre-parted, shoulder-length brunette, a deep tan and eyes that appear rimmed with the softest artist's charcoal) and sticks to it. So, here's to the next twenty years of her glossy, but slightly soft around the edges, beauty aesthetic. Vive la Carine!
