New face model Catia and the new bronze sophistication
The model faces of tomorrow meet the beauty trends of today, here, every week.
There can’t be a single girl in all the land who doesn’t love bronzer. It’s the essence of youth and radiance and all things glowing. It brings instant health to just about any face, in one fell swoop. In fact, it’s probably the one skin finisher you’d want to take away to a desert island with you.
Which is why the bronzed skin trend for spring/summer 2013 saw such widespread applause. This time, rather than just any old bronze, it was all about a shimmering and illuminated shade that sits high up on cheek bones to give real depth to the face and lighten the eyes. Heaven.
The army of girls at Roland Mouret were glowing to within an inch of their life and best of all was the sighting of Joan Smalls backstage at Ferregamo, parading the most flawless version of the trend we’d seen yet. She was hyper-bronzed and had the kind of cheekbones that most of us only dream of – yes, helped by her model face but added to greatly by the clever trickery that a decent application of bronzer brings with it.
Because the picture of Joan at Ferregamo has accumulated such a pride of place spot on the Never Underdressed pin board this month, it seemed fitting for Catia, a gorgeous new girl on the books at M+P, to try the trend. Her similar skin colour and radiant complexion would make for the ideal base.
The palette in question, nearly as beautiful as Catia herself, was Armani’s new Amber Face and Eye Palette, £60. It’s the kind of baked shimmer that seems made for summer skin. It’s pretty copper colour is finished with a gentle sparkling top, making it an all-round dream of a product.
Make-up artist Michaela had an easy task ahead of her: all she did was use a fat brush to sweep a generous dusting of the powder high up onto Catia’s cheekbones, as well as around the temples and eye area. And there, as if by magic, Catia’s sweet face was transformed into the most goddess-like vision of glowing and gleaming perfection. No exaggeration.
