New face model Riley meets her match in a fishtail plait

by

The model faces of tomorrow meet the beauty trends of today, here, every week.

The table full of 22cm long fishtail braids lying out ready for our shoot looked like they’d just been lopped off the heads of a school of pretty mermaids, who’d perhaps ditched their lengthy wonderfulness in favour of an Anne Hathaway crop. Actually, they are the genius creation from the dynamic team at Hersheson’s, who have a history in manufacturing solutions to problems we never even knew we had.

The intricate nature of the fishtail braid makes most wince in fear. It’s almost impossible to visualise how to do it without having watched someone else do it 13,345 times. So, Hersheson’s has created a clip-on fat fish-braid - so easy are these they get the same ‘there is a God’ reception as Gü’s readymade chocolate puds.

Our model Riley, a thing of beauty on the books at Select, cooed over the fishtails as much as we did. Her virgin, vanilla-y blonde lengths were a match made in heaven for the Cream Blonde shade.

The process of setting it in place was about as fuss-free as a beauty shoot can ever be: Hersheson’s hair stylist Gemma fastened the tail into place by quite literally popping it together over a simple to-the-side ponytail (yes, there are fool-proof fastening poppers) and then ruffled hair a little around the edges and front of the head to give it that day old/lived in vibe. Despite it being faux hair, it really did look and feel as silky and shiny as Rosie H-W’s lengths.

Better still, the kind people in the Hersheson's will match and fit your plait for you in the salon. They’re limited edition and come in nine shades and are, quite simply, the coolest thing we’ve ever seen. Race you there.
