Shoe-y Vuitton
When the Louis Vuitton shoe salon opens in Selfridges' infamous Shoe Galleries next Monday, it will be like every other Vuitton space: quite the thing to behold.
It marks the beginning of an exciting phase for the label and the department store, which will host a three-storey concession from November, containing accessories, womenswear and menswear AND – wait for it – a revolving elevator. The world's first, in fact, which I personally am very excited about. It means you can ascend to Vuitton nirvana while getting a 360 view of all the wares displayed on the outside of the transparent tube you're travelling through. Next level, literally.
To celebrate this opening, however, the label will offer 24 pairs of its Nightcall platform pumps as a pre-fall exclusive – each pair of which takes the house's artisan cobblers an hour and a half to make. The upper is blended from silk stain and calfskin; each sequin is hand-embroidered, and the Vuitton monogram is stamped into the silver heel.
It's all in the details.
