Rihanna Hearts KTZ
We’ve come to the conclusion that Rihanna’s style is pretty much ineffable. Defying fashion logic is her game, and she can wear anything from tiers of frothy Marchesa to thigh high Givenchy gladiators without ever allowing the clothes to wear her. But despite her swinging between fashion extremes, she has a few consistencies. High-voltage sex is one. Owning it is another. And KTZ is the latest one we’ve just discovered.
If you haven’t heard of KTZ, we’re here to help. A London-based cult streetwear label borne out of the combined passions of DJ Sasko Bezovski, Central Saint Martins-trained designer Marjan Pejoski (he of Bjork swan dress fame), and the elusive but talented designer Koji Maruyama.
Music, mayhem and badass clothes unite the three, and this seductive combination has resulted in some of the most thrilling collections to be seen on London’s catwalks. When we last caught up with the boys at the London Showrooms launch in Paris, they were pimping out tribal masks and leather balaclava baseball caps. This stuff is not for the faint-hearted but then again, is Rihanna faint-hearted?
Is Choupette a cat?
Rihanna has been werqing KTZ for quite some time now, but her recent Instagramming bout got us to sit up and take note of the brand once again. For a night out on the town in Paris (or #PaRih as it’s known in Rihanna social media-speak), the singer wore a white lace top and shiny white satin and brocade pants from the brand’s SS13 collection. What could look like a piece of Catholic altar paraphernalia on many looks pretty rad on her, and we think that this might be the secret to the success of KTZ. It has to be worn with conviction or not at all.
Take a look at Ri’s previous KTZ looks and tell us: would you? Could you? Should you wear KTZ? Of course you should – but only if you’re ready to be noticed. And not in a Catholic altar kind of way.
