With every great album that Goldfrapp releases comes a whole host of inspiring looks from their singer, Alison Goldfrapp, from whom the band takes its name. A jeans and T-shirt girl she is not; her often outrageous stage style has seen everything from a coat of lurex ribbons to a Harlequin clown costume, and even when she does go for something more normal, her dresses and jumpsuits are nothing short of glamorous. 

In a video released today for new single Drew, taken from Goldfrapp’s forthcoming album, Tales of Us, out 9th September, Alison’s classically chic looks, created by stylist Mary Fellowes, match the arty black-and-white feel of the short film. 

If there was ever a better case for wide-leg trousers than the Sass & Bide pair worn throughout by Alison with Church’s Brogues, we’d like to see it, though judging by the amount of bare bums in the video, perhaps not all participants were convinced. 

Oh, and the song’s pretty great too, all breathy vocals, dreamy acoustic guitar and soaring strings. Get your eyes and your ears around it now.
