On Saturday, BAFTA Los Angeles celebrated the nominees of the year’s top awards including the Golden Globe, SAG, and EE BAFTAs (Cate Blanchett, Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, Sandra Bullock) with a Mulberry-sponsored tea party at the Four Seasons hotel in LA.

Diane Von Furstenberg's famous wrap dress turn 40 this year and to celebrate, the May Co. department store building in Los Angeles is hosting a Furstenberg-themed exhibition called 'Journey of a Dress'. On Friday night Furstenberg and a starry bunch of wrap dress fans turned to kick the 40th birthday celebrations into gear.

On Thursday, it was The Wolf of Wall Street premiere in London, and the warm-up party for the Golden Globes in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile the People's Choice awards saw Sandra Bullock step out on Wednesday, while a host of stars gathered in Beverly Hills last night for a private dinner thrown by designer Antonio Berardi, a firm red carpet favourite so far this season, ahead of Sunday's Golden Globes.

On the small screen, the latest series of Girls premiered in New York this week and drew hip celebs out into the deep freeze currently gripping the States (it was minus 15 at one point). Well, what further prompting do you need, Anna Wintour, to don those new season Prada furs?

Meanwhile, the industry is gearing up for the major awards ceremonies with smaller and more indie gatherings – Cate Blanchett and Sally Hawkins represented Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine at the New York Film Critics Circle awards earlier this week too.

And on Sunday, there were the opening parties  of London Collections: Men at the Dolce & Gabbana store in London, attended by Kylie, and the Palm Springs Film Festival Gala, which brought out the big-hitters like Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullocks, but also the young stars of Mandela: the Long Walk to Freedom and Steve McQueen's 12 Years a Slave.
