Somewhere in an office in New York, an assistant has probably been ordered to call nature, or God or someone and have a word about the wind, which caused Anna Wintour's flight to London be diverted to land in Newcastle. 

The US Vogue editor in chief, along with her right hand man Hamish Bowles, Georgia May Jagger, Jourdan Dunn and newly anointed member of the fash-pack, Kendall Jenner, were no doubt perturbed to be stranded in the North Eastern city, much to the amusement of, well, everyone. 

A fellow passenger on the flight from JFK told us, 'It was fascinating to see all the fashion types, usually whisked away down the upper class exit at Heathrow, crowding round to pick up their own bags at Newcastle. Kendall Jenner seemed to be having a fairly intense phone conversation involving the words "do something"'. There's no question of who'd win in a baggage scrum with Anna though. 

Reports on twitter suggest that Hamish Bowles has been spotted at Newcastle culinary bastion, Greggs, although it sounds like he went for crisps over a steak slice. Considering his usual dinner attire, this is nothing less than amazing. APPEAL FOR TWITPICS PLZ.  

Twitter, of course, is having a field day with this development, inviting the gang to join locals for a 'slippery nipple' at 'Baja Beach Club', suggesting that Wintour's arrival in the city was 'like General Zod [landing on] Earth in Superman 2' and coining the wonderful hashtag, #bobonthetyne. 

All have now arrived safely arrived in London, but we wonder if we'll see Anna and Hamish on the front row at today's shows wearing black and white striped souvenirs from their adventure. One can only hope.
