What the Frock: Kate and Jamie

Kate Moss and Jamie Hince leaving the Rock On charity event dinner in London last night
Adam Welch, editor of Wonderland
Jamie Hince has obviously invented a time machine. One that allows him to go back and browse the racks of various scuzzy Camden vintage stores circa 2006. Every day I wake up with a warm feeling that people don't really dress like this any more, and now that feeling is gone, and I feel sad. On the other hand, Kate's sheer dress makes for a nice pretty/evil ambivalence that really suits her. I like the shoes more than the belts, which are a little to dungeon-y for me. But then I'm not Kate Moss I suppose.
Carrie Tyler, editor of Never Underdressed
I can’t even look at Jamie. Is Kate so lovely that she managed to stifle the urge to burst in to that cackling laugh as he came down the stairs dressed in an OPEN GREEEN SHIRT, shiny bolo-style tie and matador jacket? I’ve seen better dressed Italian waiters in character. Kate’s dress is very pretty but it’s a shame she felt the need to wrap a big belt around it. You tend to do that when you don’t feel thin enough in something, which can’t be the case here.
Mandi Lennard, brand consultant and founder of Mandi's Basement
Kate looks faultless. Pleated below-the-knee chiffon is contemporary with a white under-layer, while the Alaia belt, which she probably found in the back of her wardrobe, pulls everything together to create tough elegance. The simple black Louboutin courts exude restraint and confidence, while the animal clutch is the perfect accoutrement to add zap – unlike Jamie Hince, who looks like an extra from a game of Cluedo; he so evidently has a metal bar in that holdall.
