It's all scrunchies and Spice Girls for Chelsea Leyland

The New York based model and DJ talks us through a twisted hair vision she wore for friend Dominic Jones' jewellery campaign

'This picture was taken last summer for my friend Dominic Jones’ campaign we did for Dazed Digital.  I did the shoot with my great friends Alice Dellal, Phoebe Collings-James and Kesh and Alex Brownsell did the hair. It felt like I was in the 90s channelling my inner Spice Girl!

As my hair is naturally curly the texture is pretty dry, so my routine is quite complicated. I focus on keeping my hair healthy and well nourished. I wash it once or twice a week so as not to dry it out and I use nearly half a bottle of conditioner. I have to leave it in for a good 10 to 15 minutes if possible. I use Moroccan Oil Shampoo and I use a conditioner by It's a 10.  Sometimes I sleep in the 'Ten' hair mask.

"I am a Leo, so my mane means a lot to me, though it does cross my mind to maybe cut it short one day."

My hair inspiration would be Christiana F from the 80s German film although I've never dyed it red. My second hair inspiration would be the blonde girl Julie from that movie Swimming Pool.

If I’m having a bad hair day I wear my hair up in a top-knot or ballet bun. My best friend from London has a scrunchie company called MCS Scrunchies so these always come to the rescue. I have one for every mood and occasion, they're the best.

I am a Leo, so my mane means a lot to me, though it does cross my mind to maybe cut it short one day. I'm just not ready to do it any time soon. I've had long hair for nearly my whole life so it would be a big move for me when I finally do it one day.'
