Fashion blogger, Jessie Bush, is pretty in pink

We The People blogger and street style photographer Jessie went pink recently. Here she tells us why she's completely smitten with the change

'I first dyed my hair pink back in August after contemplating it for far too many years. It's only semi-permanent, so it fades out a little after every wash, but I had it re-done in September since I loved the colour so much. I had it done at Glasshouse Salon, a boutique hair place in East London. It's super relaxed in there, there's plenty of natural light and they have the best drinks and magazine selection around.

I wasn’t really inspired by anyone to go pink, it was more a case of finally finding the right hairdresser. Finding a great stylist and colourist is never easy (especially when you're blonde) but a friend recommended Olivia at Glasshouse and it all stemmed from there. Olivia is really talented when it comes to colour - the blonde she does for me is the perfect blend of bright, subtle and ashy. She mentioned she had pastels in her colour range and I knew I could trust her to give pink a whirl.

The dye hasn’t damaged by hair at all because it’s by Organic Colour Systems which is far gentler than most products I've used over the years. I also have a protein treatment each time I'm at the salon. I'm a new convert of Organic Colour Systems - I use the shampoo and conditioner at home. But I also love Aesop's Hair Masque and Hair Balm - both actually fix the condition of your hair and smell delicious.

I used to have longer hair and I grew it for years and years, but I actually prefer it shorter now. I feel like short hair injects a lot more personality and style into a person’s look. The colour change has affected my outfit choices a lot. After I first had it done I wore a lot of black to balance out the pink. And lately I've gone the complete opposite direction and have been wearing similar shades of pink for extreme levels of matchy-matchy. I don’t often wear hair accessories or hats but I wouldn't say no to the Saint Laurent classic fedora.

I’ve got no plans at the moment to dye my hair any other colour. But until going pink I'd been blonde my whole life - so who knows! Daria Werbowy is my all-time hair icon - an effortless babe with long hair, the ultimate cool-girl with a crop.
