Oh wow, I am completely in love. I know I only left my corn rows behind a few days ago but ever since then I’ve been fixated with hair. Hair colours, hairstyles, you name it. So a sighting of Girls star Jemima Kirke in New York yesterday afternoon, wearing THE most wonderful pair of braids, set my heart racing. I was left jaw dropped, full of amazement and admiration. And a little bit green eyed too.
 
There’s something about braids that’s quite magical. Especially when they’re a pair of school girl plaits like this that have universal appeal on all accounts. Very tightly fixed and finished with a turban head band, it’s exactly how I would like to wear my hair everyday if time permitted (let’s be realistic – tight braiding like this is outrageously time-consuming). Jemima looks like she could be part of the Missoni dynasty, Margherita in particular, who before her post-wedding chop used to don a pair of similar, lengthy braids. And it’s also a bit Pippi Longstocking, though more grown-up and sophisticated and on the whole much, much better.
 
Either way, it’s marvellous on every level. And a mighty fine lesson in how long hair does not have to be boring.
