Chloe's got that high summer feeling

Chloe and summer go hand-in-hand. No other house does that nonchalant aesthetic quite like it and Clare Waight Keller has taken to the brand like a louche cream jacket to some navy culottes.

For spring 2014, Waight Keller has stretched its remit further. Shapes were much looser than we are used to. Chloe is known for stretching the fit of tailoring, so structure is at its heart but has been relaxed and lived in. That's why women love it, it appeals to our need for something pulled together but is comfortable and chic and not too overdone for everyday.

In many of the looks today however, structure was often left completely behind in place of fluid shapes and draping. Crushed plissé and knotted dresses didn't nod to tailoring at all, and it was a refreshing and new direction because of it.

Graphic lace and embroidered dresses breezily sailed behind the models, oversize cashmere sweaters slung over loose silky shorts. It spoke of the heat of summer and coping with it as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

Sludgey colours and white ruled, and every piece went with everything else alongside it. There was also another significant motion for the return of the mule as the key shape for next season. Here it was fringed canvas, a great take on a desert boot idea.

Airy, opulent, glowing, cool. Everybody wants to be the Chloe girl.
