Awards season rattles on, like a runaway mine train full of glistening statuettes and weirdly shaped glass discs on oblong stands, and the Critics' Choice Awards were the latest to take place last night in Santa Monica. Not too many surprises here: Cate Blanchett, best actress once more – a recurrent theme of the ceremonies this year, with Lupita Nyong'o taking home the best supporting actress gong (Jennifer Lawrence didn't show up anyway).
