Katy England talks Kate Moss and Christmas
Our twelve days of Christmas quick-fire q&as bring you seasonal cheer from someone fabulous every morning until the day itself
What were the highlights of your year, work-wise?
I worked with Tom Ford, styling his spring 14 show. It was immaculate and he is a very talented man so it was very exciting. Also, working with Kate Moss on [her new] TopShop Collection. Kate and I have been friends for years so it is always fun to work with her on this. We have similar taste and she has a real flare for designing. And then directing my first film! Vauxhall Motors gave me the opportunity to direct my first short to celebrate British style which was an exciting proposition. I got to work with these amazing young kids to show this snapshot of British youth cultures and trends which was really inspiring.
And can you tell us any non-work related highlights?
Spending a beautiful summer in Dorset with my family. We had great weather this year and I love not having the stress of travelling abroad.
What's your secret (but incredibly useful) Christmas tip?
Christmas brings with it great opportunities to be stylish and dress up. I really love winter as I think the British have a great sense of layering and creating interesting seasonal looks that are very classy. Having a few festive items in your wardrobe that can be toughened up with a leather jacket, black skinny pants or pumps will add an edge that keeps your Christmas look from going overboard.
