For every Heath Ledger who bursts onto the mainstream Hollywood scene via a teen movie (10 Things I Hate About You, 1999) there’s a Michael Schoeffling (the heartthrob star of Sixteen Candles and Mermaids is now a carpenter in Newfoundland). And then of course there are hundreds of Julia Stiles and Rachael Leigh Cooks in between,  actors who continue to find work but aren’t quite on the A List. Mean Girls though was a teen movie that launched not one but several careers, catapulting most of its stars straight to the top.  Amanda Seyfried (poor stupid Karen) seems to be the most photographed actress of 2013 – her Lovelace campaign finally culminates this weekend with the film, surely one of the most  hyped of the year, landing in cinemas – and Rachel McAdams and Lizzy Caplan continue to work on commercially successful and critically acclaimed projects. Gretchen, meanwhile, well it hasn’t quite worked out for her since she failed to make fetch happen... And we all know what happened to Lindsay.
