What the Frock: Blake Lively

Our panelists on the latest and greatest celebrity looks

Blake Lively in Burberry at a film premiere in New York last night

Kitty Joseph, designer
As far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with a glittery skirt! Blake, as ever, looks beautifully polished but at the same time maintains a youthful breeziness. I love her play on neutral tones and the gauzy top, which complement the blonde locks and glowing skin. She looks lovely!

Elin Evans, junior fashion editor at Never Underdressed
Blake Lively is somebody who does what I call fashion-by-numbers. Here she is in a Burberry resort look, head-to-toe, and she’s replaced the cooler white wedges that we saw in the resort presentation with some beautiful (but safe) pointed Louboutins. It’s all very safe – and that cardigan is edging the look too far into the mum-zone. I appreciate the cinema she’s going into for this premiere is probably air-conned up to the max but why not try something less mumsy than a cardigan – a white leather jacket would have looked brilliant.

Dolly Alderton, producer and writer
On paper, everything about this outfit says Trinny Woodall at a Hampstead dinner party in a very big way. And yet, magically, it works. The icy blue tones of the late 1990s, the twin set, the sequin pencil skirt – somehow with that mane of golden hair it all comes together. Blake pulls off the middle-aged plushness of this outfit with panache and some how makes it feel fresh and young.
