Once upon a time, a pastel rinse was merely just a style worn by daring older ladies in plastic rain bonnets. Fortunately for us, the age of granny chic has reared it’s wonderfully salon-fresh head and so with it comes the startling merits of a good pastel rinse.

Far removed from the soft wispy tufts of your grandma’s hair, pastel dye jobs have recently been adopted as a new-wave grunge accessory (just search for ‘soft grunge’ online for proof of a pastel-haired cult following). Their follicular ambition? The dishevelled coloured tufts of Sky Ferreira & Co. What really is the most extraordinary, however, is the delicateness and elegance that can be achieved with a pastel rinse. That, and the fact that we feel about 12-years old again every time we pick up our hairbrush (giddy with the knowledge that we’re basically our own personal My Little Pony doll).
