Alexander Wang's first fragrance for Balenciaga is revealed

by

It is little over a year ago that Alexander Wang debuted his first ready-to-wear collection as creative director of Balenciaga, a role which he famously turned down at first. Well, it's to our benefit that he didn't because, since then the hits have kept coming. And they're not merely sartorial any longer. Coty has announced the launch of Wang's first ever fragrance for the brand, B. Balenciaga, fronted by Wang's latest muse, Anna Ewers.

Of the fragrance itself, Wang says 'it took a lot of soul-searching, but I really wanted to do something quite pure, as I see it as a step forward for the house. It was exciting working on the scent and going to the essence of the brand, to its DNA, and to also combine that with my vision. I didn’t want to base this project too much on the past, but also wanted it to be iconic to the brand. I want it to stand the test of time.'

The word is, it has a green, woody aroma, with edamame, lily of the valley, all of which dry down to reveal a powdery essence with 'darker woody notes of cashmeran woods.' Still, will we'll have to wait till October, when the scent goes on sale, for the pleasure, and in the meantime, keep dreaming about all those monochrome funnel neck jumpers till then.
