Sofia Coppola's elegant look that matches her nonchalant film style

by

Sofia Coppola. She brings something to the silver screens that’s so beautiful and aesthetically wonderful, something very peaceful yet still powerful. The Virgin Suicides springs to mind, arguably her most iconic work to date, but Marie Antoinette was a romp of pomp and vigour. But it wasn’t a pantomime – it was inherently cool. Which is her forte after all.

Interesting thing to note is, that her beauty look is practically matches her film style. She always looks the picture of elegant and as understatedly charming as her productions. It’s the kind of glossy look that many women often over-do, yet Sofia manages to look put together and sophisticated while still emulating a general sense of cool.

Her perfect skin for instance, the type of creamy and smooth complexion that American women do so well. Clear and even with a flattering smudge of rosy blush, it’s something of a trademark of hers. And those dark brown brows that accent it, not too plucked and just the right shape to angle her face and add depth around the eye area and cheek bones.

And then there’s her hair. It’s got something slightly Alexa Chung about it with its rich Marmite-y hue and subtle sheen. And it’s never, ever out of place. Even on the windy harbours of Cannes for photo calls and on her way to gala dinners, it sat just above her shoulders in an orderly and spot-on fashion. And let’s face it, it was something of a refreshing sight amongst the sea of hair-sprayed beehives and wedding-style chignons.

Let’s not forget also that this lady is 42 years old. No, really. And that’s exactly  the point with Sofia; she radiates coolness and youth by the bucket load while remaining utterly immaculate. You sort of want to be her as well having her as your best friend. At the same time. If it were possible.
