Reason no. 2935 to love bronzer
Aside from the obvious benefits of your classic bronzer – that it magically adds a sheen of radiance to even the most dull of complexions – I’ve found a new use for it. And it’s really quite a good one. So much so, I thought it would be good to share with my nearest and dearest. On days like this when the sun is shining and you really don’t want to cake your face in a load of sticky make-up, your faithful bronzer comes into its own. Because, you see, it can double up as an eye shadow, adding the same smudge of radiance to lids in one easy stroke.
To explain: after your generous sweep of bronzer across the brow, cheekbones and chin, the trick is to use your finger to apply a generous coating to the eyelids. Sounds strange, but it instantly lifts the eye area without the faff of digging around for your eye shadow palette when important things like Soleros and sunbathing are calling. Don’t use a brush – your finger will make more of an impact – and don’t be shy on really rubbing it on to get the full effect. Blending the golden hue slightly outwards at each corner works too, and the whole look makes for the easiest quick fix make-up trick on hot days like this.
It’s a look that was omnipresent at the spring/summer 2013 shows, naturally. Not done with actual bronzer – artists used precious yet-to-launch eye shadows – but the effect is the same. And the doubling up of what must be the number one summer make-up product is clever. Very clever. Not convinced? Have a peruse of the radiant models in the gallery above to see the look in action. It totally works.
