Pedro Lourenco’s streamlined style heroes

Sometimes straightforward can be equally complex, or at least in the case of Pedro Lourenco’s spring 2014 collection it can be.

At a first glance you see beautifully streamlined shapes – form-fitting pencil skirts, flattering peplums, shift dresses and subtly oversized Crombie coats feature heavily.

Look twice – and you’ll want to – and its complexity hits you. A wood-grain print on the aforementioned coats offers a fresh, but equally raucous alternative to zebra-print and kaleidoscopic floral designs add an element of playfulness to tops.

An ombré effect finds its way onto skirts in two ways: colour seeps along patent leather like ink on blotting paper creating a soft two-tone, while elsewhere, laser-cutting is employed to allow leather, in silver or white, to fade-out to the hemline.

Structured jackets complete with strong shoulders and curved waists and tailored trousers, both black and white, would make excellent additions to your smart-days arsenal while flashes of coloured metallic leather beg to be taken out partying.

Clothes you can wear every day are not as simple as they sound after all.
