There's a new kind of strappy shoe to get religious about: the monk strap - a brogue or loafer that's closed by a neat little buckle, and presumably invented by monks (they've given us strong beer and a nifty shoe style - thanks monks!). Best of all, they're comfy and flat, and won't cause any lacerations of the toes. It's always nice when your shoes are friend not foe.  

Proving their fashion credentials, actress Astrid Berges-Frisbey wore a pair to the Chanel Couture show yesterday, putting a preppy spin on her ladylike Chanel dress.
