What the Frock: Pixie Geldof

Our panelists on the latest and greatest celebrity looks

Pixie Geldof in House of Holland at the opening of Fashion Rules at Kensington Palace

I like very little about this outfit and yet somehow, Pixie still looks completely adorbz. I wouldn't personally wear a man's shirt with an A-line skirt as I find the proportions a bit overwhelming, but as a woman, I do love how Pixie so often covers up – she doesn't seem to feel the pressure to do boobs, thighs or anything else. It makes for a lovely carefree, confident look that feels really refreshing, especially on the red carpet. I'm not one for mixing metals myself, so silver platforms below golden star applique feels like a misstep. The Liberty print confuses things further. But I don't really care. She looks like she's enjoying her time and enjoying her look. And that's quite infectious.

It's nice when a damsel and designer come together with as much confidence as Henry Holland and Pixie Geldof clearly have in each other. When she wears his clothes, you get a truer understanding of the thought and the fun inherent to them, because she's so heavily involved in his life and because her expressions have become his sartorial output. I like that. It feels organic somehow – the ideas of 'a muse' can seem a little hackneyed. But Pixie is the perfect representation of the magic that happens when a designer has a hotline not only to his customers but to the culture they inhabit.

What sets this look on fire is the mulberry fierceness that is her lipstick. I'm so proud of Henry when I see great cut as exemplified by this pencil skirt. Pixie's one of Henry's staunchest ambassadors and it's great to see her mature with growing confidence with her own personal style. She's a cute, fun kid, embracing of fashion. Her cropped hair underlines her Jean Seberg gamine-cool cred.
