Burberry schools the French in the Art of the Trench
We've heard plenty about how well Burberry is doing pretty much all over the world, but especially in China and the Far East of late. Now the British megabrand turns its attentions a little closer to home with its latest project, a pop-up store in Paris department store Printemps that opens tomorrow.
Entitled 'London Mania', the temporary exhibit will bring some of that archetypal British cool to the doyennes and grande dames that inhabit the City of Light's fashion scene. Traditionally, they might not have felt we Celts had much to teach them about style but, ahem, have you noticed just how perfectly suited the classic Burberry trench is to that studiedly nonchalant Gallic aesthetic? The French know a good thing when they see one. The store will also offer some of the most recent collection's studded and leather, punk-inspired pieces, spanning the gamut of the English capital's contributions to fashion history.
The pop-up showcases a Paris installment of the label's 'Art of the Trench' project, a street style blog that aims to capture in portraits Burberry's most famous piece in action across the world. Click the gallery to see them and some from further afield, as Burberry blazes a trail, well, basically everywhere.
'London Mania' is open in Printemps on the Boulevard Haussmann in Paris until 20 October, and a party will be held on 4 September in celebration of the project
