The team tries some new season style resolutions

At the end of the spring 2014 shows in October, we were faced with a whole bunch of new trends from New YorkLondonMilan and Paris. But this time, they felt a little more daunting, slightly further beyond our collective comfort zones. Truth be told, while there's definitely something for everybody in the next round of seasonal trends, there are also some that you might think will suit nobody. They're diverse, all right, and some of them are downright difficult.

But we are intrepid – just take a look at our recent visit to Bicester Village for proof of that – so we decided to divide up the spring trends according to who was least likely to wear them. Our editor Carrie, a devoted wearer of heels who believes no outfit can't be improved by a stiletto spike, wore flats for a week (though fell short of a Birkenstock); deputy editor Kelly, a tropical parakeet around the office, was subdued in spring's dark and un-seasonal shades. Fashion director Ursula, known for a time during her teens as 'Tits', tackled a statement sweatshirt, while junior fashion editor Elin, a cyclist even in the foullest weather, wore all white. Staff writers Lynn and Laura tried shorts and sports(wear) respectively, while minimalist Joanna, our beauty director, set aside her monochrome for some citrus brights. And our news editor Harriet took rucksacks, because she has a bad habit of rummaging in her handbag almost constantly.

Sounds cruel? It isn't. It's a sure-fire way to get the honest answer. What's more, this is the perfect time of year to make a resolution and to try something new. Thank goodness we did all the hard work for you.

So sit back, and click the images below to find out how we got on.
