The Propagandist: 11 - 17 July
We tell you what to do
In the club: If there’s one club you need to know about when checking off your fashion references for right now, it’s Blitz – the epicentre of the 80s club kid scene that saw fashion designers including John Galliano and Katharine Hamnett rise to fame. There are few movements before or since that capture such hedonism through clothes, and with a new exhibition, open 10th July, The V&A showcase the sartorial delights that came out of this one for their new exhibition, Club to Catwalk: London Fashion in the 80s.
Get your skates on: Who’d want to go to a regular disco when you could go to a roller disco? From the 12th July, the infamous roller disco Bagley’s hosted in the early 2000s (please tell us they’re not ‘back’ already) will be recreated in the redeveloped space for eight weeks only. Disco Bistro will be popping up at the event offering food inspired by the flamboyant dance-era. What that could be, we can’t even imagine – just make sure you eat after skating otherwise things could end messily.
Shoreditch gets the gig: Didn’t manage to make it to Texas for SxSW, or got festival fever with zero desire to get into a tent? Fear not, as Shoreditch is set to become the biggest gig venue in London on 13th July for East End Live. Set across twelve venues, 60 bands including Toy, East India Youth, Teeth of the Sea and The Monochrome Set will spend the day cracking out super-cool sounds, and all for just £20.
Bagsy the new name: Remember how we told you that Damir Doma was a fashion name you needed to know? Well, now’s your chance to bag yourself one of the ex-assistant to Raf Simons’ sports-wear-meets couture pieces with an archive sale on online concept store LN-CC on 15th July. Sale starts at 9.30am, so log on and beat the Monday blues.
Fashion cupboard frenzy: Or if you prefer a real-life sample sale, Push PR are selling theirs with pieces by cult brands including Sinequanone and Gaudi Italia. It’s basically a big raid on the swag they usually send out to fashion magazines, which is pretty great if you ask us. The sale starts at 9am on 17th July at Unit 90, Exmouth House, 3-11 Pine Street, London, EC1R 0JH. Check @pushprlondon for details.
