The Propagandist – 1-7th August

by

We tell you what to do.

Take a holiday: A Roman Holiday, that is, with the classic Audrey Hepburn film showing at the Curzon cinema in Chelsea in the afternoon of 1st August – there’s a royal mood in the air after all. You might not be escaping the city, but a watch will make for a brilliant vicarious getaway. Just prepare yourself for some major cheekbone and waist envy.

Print samples: Orla Kiely is knocking up to 80% off its usual prices with a sample sale in South West London from the 1st-3rd August. Stock up on dresses for the remainder in the brand’s signature as well as accessories and clothes from read-to-wear collections, present and archive, that’ll do you all year round. Address and opening details here.

A British bargain: Since you’re already on a sample sale tip, why not head East to Aubin and Wills’ Redchurch Street store and stock up on some of their classic heritage pieces, which will be a fine match for Orla Kiely’s Brit-style, should you choose to go to both. The sale runs from 2nd-4th August from 11-7pm on Friday and Saturday, and 11-5pm on Sunday.

East village opening: the much-missed Village Bicycle boutique in Notting Hill is re-opening on 5th August and it’s got a new home alongside some of your favourite vintage hotspots on East London’s Brick Lane. The Village Bicycle’s own clothing collection, including biker jackets, bags and shoes, as well as cult labels including Bitching & Junkfood, House of Hackney and more.

#bombthebox: London’s trendiest pop-up, Boxpark will be getting a daily graffiti makeover. Every Sunday from 4th August, for six weeks a different graffiti artist will do their work on a 20 foot shipping container at Shoreditch High Street station. DJs and beatboxers will be gathering around to add to the party atmosphere, so get on down and see the graf in action.
