They don't always seem the most practical choice. Certainly you wouldn't consider tall boots among those fashion go-tos that somehow look great on everyone. They're no navy jumper, that's for sure.

And yet, we found them quite refreshing when we trialled them. There are so many styles to choose from this season, from only-just-beyond-your-knee to downright only-just-beneath-your-whatever-your-mother-calls-it, in supple suede, stiff leather, ladylike and heeled or stompily flat.
