What would our favourite literary heroines wear today?

The serene staying power of a literary classic isn’t to be sniffed in a world that is constantly updating, Tweeting and downloading. But that doesn’t mean you don’t sometimes want them to move with the times, too.

You may well have spent your teenage years pretending to sip tea as daintily as Lizzie Bennett or stalking the moors with your Catherine Earnshaw face on, but one thing was always missing: the empire line muslin gown and china cups, or the coarse linen cloak that would wave in the breeze as Romantically as Cathy’s did.

But, while fancy dress isn’t necessarily an option for everyday adult life, here at Never Underdressed, we believe in inspirational dressing for any occasion. And so, we bring you the wardrobe in which to live out your literary dreams. How to dress like your favourite heroines, from Lizzie and Catherine to Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre and Truman Capote’s Holly Golightly.

Ok, so there are no bonnets involved, but you’ll be channelling all that romance and recklessness all to the way to bus stop.
