We have a lot to thank Yves Saint Laurent. During the late 60s and 70s, he put women in trousers and miniskirts, and he pioneered the rise of ready-to-wear, mass-produced clothing (as opposed to bespoke, one-off and very expensive couture pieces). See? A lot to thank him for.
But how much do you know about the man behind le smoking, who famously said that the most important thing about a dress was the woman wearing it? This sensitive visionary was a man of art and learning, with a tightly knit group of fabulously fashionable friends, but he was also pursued by deep sorrow and loneliness, too. A new film, directed by Jalil Lespert, focuses on the man behind the logo, his personal life and private matters, as well as the iconic fashion he created.
Never Underdressed will be hosting an exclusive evening on Tuesday 18 March, for 19 guests and a friend each to view Yves Saint Laurent for free before its UK-wide release on 21 March. The screening will be hosted at W London - Leicester Square, where their private cinema flaunts 39 red-pillar luxury seats. You'll also be able to enjoy a wine reception from French Wines with Style in the bar/ lounge area at 6:30 pm, some snacks from gourmet tortilla chip brand Manomasa and deliciously decadent but reassuringly guilt-free gourmet Yoghurt Mousse dessert pots from The Collective before the private screening begins at 7:30pm. Yves Saint Laurent Beauté will be giving each guest a brand new Vernis a Levres lip colour worn by Victoire Doutreleau in the film, as a parting gift. So what are you waiting for?
