Girl of the moment Léa Seydoux is no red-carpet slouch
At the beginning of 2013, if you'd said the name Léa Seydoux to somebody, their most likely reaction would have been 'Léa who?' but starring in the year's most controversial film and the winner of the Cannes Palme D'Or, Blue is the Warmest Colour, which finally landed in UK cinemas last night, has changed all that for the French actress. In the past six months she has racked up numerous magazine covers, ad campaigns and red-carpet appearances to become one of the biggest of the year.
She grew up in Paris surrounded by fashion and film – her grandfather was the chairman of French film company Pathé and her father's best friend, Christian Louboutin, was a regular visitor to her home – but Léa Seydoux has managed to escape a predictable It girl route to become a highly credible, and highly stylish, star.
On down days, she opts for a slightly off-beat French style with hints of boho, but on the red carpet she is sleek and polished, favouring labels like Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton and Parisian couturiers like Maxime Simoens. She has that actress's ability to look different from moment to moment, shot to shot, and makes fun choices with her lipstick and hair colour.
