Everyone's invited to London Fashion Week
If there were any remnants of the sort of stuffy, stuck-up and super-exclusive atmosphere that the fashion industry used to be known for, you wouldn't know it in London at least.
Less than a month to go now, and the city is limbering up for its most inclusive and accessible Fashion Week ever. Oxford Street is set to be decorated with window displays and the world's chic-est bunting and flags featuring imagery and work from some of the schedule's biggest names, Giles, Alice Temperley and Matthew Williamson.
And now comes the announcement that Silent Cinema will be hosting themed evenings during that week, showing The September Issue, Zoolander and Grey Gardens to viewers issued with wireless headphones perched in and around the cafes or St. Martin's Courtyard in Covent Garden. It might not be the front row, but these tickets are bound to go quickly but you can win a pair, here.
Then there's the fashion-themed Pret-a-Portea afternoon treats at The Berkeley Hotel to keep your energy up in between, and you can bet your blog there's some mixologist coming up with a host of fashion cocktails too. Watch this space.
Honestly, it's enough to make you feel sorry for the people who have to actually do work hard to make their living during the shows. Who said that?
