Small nuances that make a big difference at Missoni
They say it's the small things that count. And that was certainly the case backstage at Missoni today where Margherita arrived with her five month old son, Otto Hermann Amos, looking remarkably like a paired-down version of the show's beauty look: a dishevelled top knot and a smudgy black eye that had all the sexy ease so typical of the Missoni dynasty.
Seemingly simple on the surface, this was a look built upon nuances. Tiny tricks that are so obvious to experts but never spring to mind when we're auto piloting through the same routine within the four walls of our bathroom. All that can change from tomorrow with the following subtle effects:
The one centimetre parting
Next time you drag your hair back into a top knot, consider creating a tiny parting right at the front of the hairline before you do so. 'This miniscule detail removes the risk of it becoming too girly and instead adds a romanticism. Think Virginia Woolf with a dash of modern nonchalance,' said Wella stylist, Eugene Souleiman.
Put your eyeliner through the pupil test
Make up artist Lucia Pieroni blended MAC Fluidline Gel Liner along the base of lashes, starting from the outside corner - but stopped just above the pupil. 'This immediately opens the eyes and creates the illusion of them being further apart,' says Pieroni.
Pinch your mascara
Apply two coats top and bottom then wait until it’s tacky - but not completely dry. Pinch two or three lashes together with some tweezers. Chiming in nicely with Milan's clumpy lash trend, this technique fakes the appearance of those thick blobs - but does so without the risk of droppage. Because ending up with mascara around your nose is never on trend.
